Jennifer & Corey: The Ultimate Troopers

After nearly twenty years in the home where they raised their kids, Jennifer & Corey decided it was time for a new chapter. They had already purchased their replacement property last year, and once the dust settled, they were finally ready to roll up their sleeves and get their previous home ready for market. They poured heart + effort into painting, updating the kitchen and bath, sprucing up the yard, cleaning, and staging
until the house was shining. Their efforts paid off quickly, attracting a buyer within days.

That buyer was using a VA loan, an incredible program that allows veterans to buy with zero down, but also comes with strict lending guidelines. During appraisal, the home was flagged for some required repairs: a new roof, siding and exterior paint + some deck work. These weren’t small items, but thankfully the offer price gave some cushion to help cover costs. With both sides strapped for liquid funds, we got creative... pulling in trusted vendors willing to be paid out of escrow, and even having both seller and buyer pitch in with repainting. Everyone came together to make it happen.

Just when we thought the finish line was in sight, the second appraisal visit threw us a curveball: a concern about possible termite damage from old wood rot (which had already been remedied). That meant a full pest inspection, more out-of-pocket costs for the buyer, and more delays. But Jennifer & Corey never wavered. They stayed steady, positive, and collaborative every step of the way, even when things felt like two steps forward, one step back.

In the end, all the hard work and determination paid off, and the sale closed successfully. Real estate can be stressful, with unexpected twists at every turn, but Jennifer & Corey proved that with grit, grace, teamwork, and the right people beside you, you can weather anything, and come out the other side stronger.
