SOMETIMES, WHEN A HOUSE IS YOURS... IT’S YOURS
When Lindy & Jordan first reached out 18 months ago, moving their family from Boulder to Portland was more of a dream than a plan. So many pieces needed to fall into place—but we talked it through, brainstormed a path forward, and slowly the wheels began to turn. A great job offer here set things in motion, the kids landed in schools they loved, and we narrowed our search. But in order to buy in Portland, they needed to sell their stunning Colorado home first. Listed in late September, it attracted a cash offer over asking within days—until the buyer unexpectedly backed out.
Repairs were made, and issues addressed, but then the election stirred up its own layer of uncertainty and bad timing. They hit pause over the holidays and restarted in February, casually exploring homes here. That’s when it happened—the one. the dream house. Of course, they weren’t fully positioned to buy, but we went for it anyway: a contingent offer, under asking, with tight timelines.
The sellers accepted.
We swung into action, they listed their Colorado home within days, knowing we had just two weeks to get it under contract—or we’d lose Portland. With a huge team effort, a new buyer was found just in the nick of time & things started to fall into place. Until, three days before closing, that second buyer backed out too. Devastation.
It was heartbreaking.
We had to terminate the Portland deal and take a breath. Lindy and Jordan stepped back, regrouped, and somehow—through determination and some serious persistence—got their Colorado buyer back on board. Just 48 hours before that closing, two new offers surfaced on the Portland home. With all they’d been through, even though they were head over heels for the home, they chose to let it go... They wanted to see their sale close before jumping back in.
Two days passed. The Portland home still wasn’t pending. Then, almost simultaneously, both the listing agent and Lindy reached out: Could this still be an option? We moved quickly, our lender worked her magic + reassembled everything, and we closed just a week later.
This journey was a true testament to the grit, resilience, and heart of this amazing duo. And when you have the right people in your corner, anything is possible. And maybe—just maybe—it was the universe holding the door open. Because sometimes, when a house is yours… it’s yours.
